Official Announcement

This time, the D1 track starts from a blank canvas. Last year, the D1 event in Dongguan was held on a tiled surface outside the exhibition hall. Since the venue ground was not originally designed as a racing surface, asphalt was laid according to the planned track layout. In other words, the route was determined first, then the asphalt was paved to “embed” the track into the venue.

This year, things are different. To better accommodate drift racing, all the tiles were removed and the entire area was rebuilt with a unified concrete surface. The track layout will be directly marked on the concrete pavement. This year’s route will be more challenging, bringing a significant increase in the level of excitement and race intensity.

Have you ever tried drifting on a concrete surface? Would you like to take on the challenge? As shown in the image below, the 2024 D1GP Thailand track was also designed for drifting on a concrete surface.

(D1GP Thailand Round - 2024)
This round was also an official D1GP event held under the same competition standards, with a concrete surface used for the track. Drivers performed their line selection, chase runs, and head-to-head battles on the concrete track in Thailand. The tire screeches were sharper, and the drifting smoke was more intense and aggressive. Meanwhile, the judges applied the same scoring criteria and evaluation logic used in the Japanese domestic rounds. The surface has changed, but the high-level competition standards remain the same. The official judging principles and scoring criteria remain unchanged.

The track surface is the stage. A different surface means a different way to prove that you can perform at your best under any conditions, deliver your strongest performance, and stand on the highest podium. The track may change, but the desire to win never changes!
Every year, the D1 race track layout is redesigned from scratch — making every Dongguan D1 event a completely unique experience. Drivers want this kind of challenge, and so do the spectators.
The track is still under design, but the people behind the design are worth trusting. The team responsible for creating the layout is the D1 event judging team.

This is not about simply drawing a line and asking drivers to follow it. The track is designed from the perspective of international drift competition judging, with a layout customized specifically for this venue:
How the entry speed is set, how the corner angles create room for drifting, how the chase zone is arranged to create opportunities for overtaking and pressure battles, and where the scoring zones are placed to maximize drivers’ attacking potential — every detail is carefully considered.

Every detail is part of the design.
The specific track layout and scoring zone plan are still being developed and will be officially announced soon. But one thing is certain: a track designed by international-level competition judges will never leave you feeling bored.

The track layout is still under development, but there are things you can do in advance. Based on the characteristics of a concrete surface, you can start preparing and fine-tuning your competition car ahead of time.

The charm of drifting lies in the fact that every race brings a different track.
Conquering different surfaces, different layouts, and different opponents — that is the challenge every great driver is eager to take on.
The track layout is about to be revealed. It’s time to start preparing in the cockpit.
