On July 8, sources revealed to the media that Changan Group has recently formed a preparatory team for its restructuring, with key members from Changan Automobile and ChenZhi Group. The restructured entity may be named “China Changan Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd.” and is expected to be officially established in Chongqing before August. Zhu Huarong is likely to be appointed as the head of the new company.

This restructuring stems from the split of the China South Industries Group Corporation, with its automotive business set to become a centrally administered enterprise at the ministerial level under the direct supervision of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). Following the reorganization, Changan’s three major new energy brands—Changan Qiyuan, AVATR, and Deepal—are expected to benefit significantly. The restructuring will also accelerate Changan Automobile’s global expansion and its transition toward new energy vehicles.

According to Changan Automobile’s mid-2025 performance report released on July 1: 


From January to June, the company achieved a total global sales volume of 1.355 million vehicles, marking a 6.8% year-on-year increase and setting a record high for the same period since 2018. Among them, new energy vehicle (NEV) sales reached 448,000 units, soaring by 52.3% year-on-year and accounting for 33.1% of total sales. Overseas sales exceeded 300,000 units, a 49% year-on-year increase, highlighting the strong progress of Changan’s global expansion strategy.


Fuel Vehicle Segment Remains Solid, Classic Models Continue to Perform Strongly 


CS75 Series: Over 100,000 units sold in the first half of the year, with cumulative sales surpassing 2.8 million units. The model continues to hold its benchmark position in the compact SUV market. 

Eado Series: Retail sales in May grew by 14.4% year-on-year, securing the top spot among domestic fuel-powered sedans.


The Three Pillars of Changan’s New Energy Strategy: Deepal, AVATR, and Qiyuan Shine in Their Own Ways 


Deepal (Shenlan) Auto: Focused on range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) technology and targeting younger consumers, Deepal offers six models priced between RMB 150,000 and 300,000. In June, the brand delivered 29,893 vehicles—a 79% year-on-year increase and a 17% rise from the previous month—making it the top-selling new energy brand among central state-owned enterprises. Notably, Changan Deepal achieved monthly breakeven in 2024 and is on track to reach full-year breakeven in 2025, outpacing many emerging NEV startups in China.


AVATR Technology: Positioned in the high-end pure electric vehicle market, AVATR has achieved cumulative sales of over 150,000 units, with an average transaction price of RMB 270,000. It has maintained monthly sales above 10,000 units for four consecutive months, making it the top-selling Chinese brand in the pure electric vehicle segment priced above RMB 300,000.

Changan Qiyuan: Focused on digital intelligence and designed for mainstream family users, Changan Qiyuan delivered 38,771 vehicles in June. Its flagship model, the Qiyuan Q07, ranked as the best-selling new energy mid-size SUV under RMB 250,000 for three consecutive weeks in June. The brand’s “Tianyü Cockpit” AI interaction feature boasts a user adoption rate of over 90%. 


  • Future Plans: Comprehensive Breakthroughs in Intelligence to Define the Era of “Smart & Digital New Vehicles”


Changan Automobile has unveiled the “Beidou Tianshu 2.0” plan, outlining three core objectives: 


Technological Breakthroughs: Achieve full-scenario Level 3 autonomous driving by 2026 and conquer full-scenario Level 4 technology by 2028, covering highways, urban areas, parking, and more.Product Popularization: Starting August this year, vehicles priced around RMB 100,000 will come standard with LiDAR sensors. The Tianshu Intelligent Driving System will gradually be extended to mainstream models, lowering the threshold for advanced intelligent driving. 

Ecosystem Development: Develop the Tianyu Cockpit with 100% AI penetration, supporting emotional interaction and multimodal perception; the Tianheng chassis featuring crosswind stability, powerful braking, and magic carpet suspension; and explore cutting-edge fields such as flying cars and humanoid robots.

Application Scenarios: From Single Mobility to Mobile Living Spaces 


Smart Cockpit: The Tianyu Cockpit supports AI voice assistants, AR-HUD augmented reality navigation, in-car health monitoring, and will eventually integrate with home and office ecosystems. 

Autonomous Driving: The Tianshu Intelligent Driving System currently enables highway piloting and automatic parking, with plans to support autonomous decision-making in complex urban environments by 2026. 

Energy Services: Changan is developing a supercharging network and aims to complete 1,000 integrated solar energy storage and charging stations by 2025 to alleviate users’ range anxiety.

Capacity Layout: The Rayong plant in Thailand is already operational, with nine overseas factories running in Egypt and other locations. Future plans include establishing 20 more factories in countries such as Brazil and Indonesia. 

Market Coverage: Changan’s global sales and service network exceeds 14,000 outlets, covering five major regional markets. The brand has been listed in the “BrandZ China Globalization Top 50” for two consecutive years. 

Targets: Overseas sales are targeted to reach 1 million units by 2025, with overseas sales accounting for 30% of total sales by 2030.
